Marseille are stepping up their interest in Olivier Giroud.

According to a report in France Football the Arsenal striker is on a list of three English based targets that also includes Steve Mandanda and Yohan Cabaye.

Giroud has fallen out of favour at Arsenal and been relegated to the role of substitute with Alexis Sanchez leading the line.

The striker joined Arsenal five years ago from Montpellier and signed a two year contract extension earlier this season that ties him to the club until 2019.

Despite the likely departure of Sanchez in the summer Giroud hasn’t featured in the list of replacements with Arsene Wenger expected to sign a big money striker in the summer.

With the prospect of regular first team football and Marseille showing their ambition the prospect of a return to France is appealing although the 30-year-old is settled in London.

This season Giroud has scored nine goals from eight Premier League starts and 15 appearances as a substitute.
