Arsenal have been given a boost in the bid to sign Leon Goretzka.
According to a report in Metro, Schalke are ready to sell the midfielder in the summer after failing to agree a new deal.
Goretzka has been tipped for big things for some time and now looks like being the centre of a summer auction.
Arsenal have scouted strongly in Germany in recent seasons and have stepped up their interest in Goretzka who is out of contract in June 2018 and has refused to consider a new deal with the club he’s been with since 2013.
With half a dozen players out of contract at the same time, including Mesut Ozil, Jack Wilshere and Alex Oxlade Chamberlain, Arsenal are planning ahead with several replacements in mind.
Goretzka has earned great reviews with Schalke over the last 18 months with Juventus believed to be interested although it’s understood that the player’s preference is to move to England.
