Spurs step up striker search

|

Spurs are leading the race for Moussa Marega.

According to a report in The Sun the Porto striker, currently on loan at Vitoria Guimaraes, is a £35m target for Tottenham.

Marega is apparently known as the Jamie Vardy of Portuguese football on account of battling his way through the lower divisions to the top.

Porto signed the Mali internationalist last January but rather than pitch him into a side involved in the Champions League they sent Marega on loan to Guimaraes.

With 12 goals in 17 appearances scouts have started to follow Marega with Spurs determined to bring in a reliable goalscorer during the summer.

Harry Kane’s current injury has again highlighted their reliance on the England striker and although they won on Sunday against Southampton a quality back-up striker is needed at the Lane.

Spurs are likely to face strong competition to sign Marega but with a top wage on offer plus Champions League football it looks like they’ll be at the front of the queue to snap up the striker.
