Manchester United’s hopes of keeping Zlatan Ibrahimovic face an unlikely threat from Napoli.

According to a report in The Sun the striker has opened the door to a return to Serie A during an interview with an Italian TV station.

Ibrahimovic joined Manchester United on a Bosman deal last summer with the move described as a 12 month contract with a 12 month option.

Jose Mourinho has stated that those conditions have been met but it seems that the striker has the final decision on whether he signs up for another 12 months or not.

LA Galaxy were recently linked with a move for Ibrahimovic but there has been constant rumours that Napoli would be the place where the Swede would pull down the curtain on his career.

Getting the 35-year-old to commit for another 12 months is essential for Mourinho as he plans ahead to the summer transfer market, the departure of Ibrahimovic would leave a massive hole in his plans.
