Manchester United are ready to make Tiemoue Bakayoko a priority summer signing.

According to a report in The Sun the Monaco midfielder was watched by United during the dramatic Champions League win over Manchester City.

Bakayoko gave another master-class performance, justifying his £52m buy-out clause, as Monaco put City in the shade to win 3-1 and go through on away goals.

Jose Mourinho would love to put the 22-year-old alongside Paul Pogba in the United engine room.

Bakayoko would step into the ‘Michael Carrick role’ with the veteran highly unlikely to be offered another contract.

Arsenal have also been linked with the midfielder but United’s main threat is likely to come from Juventus who can guarantee Bakayoko Champions League football.

Monaco’s success in the Champions League has sent scouts flocking to the principality to marvel at the young squad assembled by Leonardo Jardim.

United know that negotiations will be tough to secure Bakayoko with the French outfit driving a hard bargain in the sale with the transfer of Anthony Martial.
