Joe Gomez is a shock transfer target for Real Madrid.

According to a report on talkSPORT the Spanish side are keen to take the Liverpool defender to La Liga and claim that Zinedine Zidane ‘has a weakness’ for Gomez.

Liverpool paid Charlton Athletic £3.5m for Gomez in the summer of 2015 but his Anfield career was halted by an anterior cruciate ligament injury that put him out of action for 12 months.

Since recovering from that injury the 19-year-old has been left on the sidelines and restricted to three appearances in the FA Cup.

Many Liverpool fans have been surprised at the lack of action Gomez has had but it seems that his situation is being closely watched from Spain.

In January Liverpool gave Gomez a new five year contract but it seems like they’ll need to offer him some realistic game time or a loan move if they wish to hold on to the former Charlton man.
