Liverpool have stepped up their interest in Timo Werner.

According to a report in the Daily Mail the RB Leipzig striker has impressed Liverpool with his 14 goals in the club’s first season in the Bundesliga.

Werner joined Leipzig last summer in an £8m deal from Stuttgart and has played a major role as they provide the main challenge to Bayern Munich.

Last season Werner only managed to score six goals in 33 matches.

Jurgen Klopp keeps a close watch on the Bundesliga and believes that Werner’s style of play matches the way he wants Liverpool to play with the 21-year-old a good foil for Saido Mane.

Interest in Wener is another indicator that Daniel Sturridge will be on his way at the end of the season.

West Ham and Crystal Palace have been linked with the England striker but a move abroad, with Paris St Germain interested, may hold more appeal to Sturridge.
