Ronald Koeman has warned Ross Barkley that Everton won’t be messed around over a new contract.

According to a report in The Daily Mail the Everton boss will sell the midfielder in the summer if he isn’t prepared to sign a new deal.

Barkley was criticised and dropped by Koeman earlier in the season but has bounced back to produce impressive form since the turn of the year.

The 23-year-old is under contract until June next year making the next few months critical.

Spurs were linked with Barkley before Christmas with other top clubs bound to be tracking developments.

With contract talks with Romelu Lukaku breaking down earlier this week Koeman could have a massive rebuilding task on his hands in the summer if he loses the Belgian striker and Barkley.

The midfielder has started 111 Premier League matches since making his debut in 2014, scoring 20 goals in the process.
