Liverpool are preparing an end of season bid for Riyad Mahrez.
According to a report in Metro the Leicester winger is one of Jurgen Klopp’s top transfer targets.
Mahrez recently signed a long term contract with Leicester but once the curtain comes down on this season a number of players are expected to move on.
The Algerian internationalist has stated a preference for joining Barcelona but it’s unlikely that the Catalan side share that wish.
Klopp wants to add width to his side with the wing play- and finishing- of Mahrez a major feature of Leicester’s success last season.
If Liverpool can secure Champions League football for next season Klopp will have significant money to spend with a £30m bid heading to Leicester for their talented winger who shone in their Champions League win over Sevilla.
Leicester will be reluctant sellers but after a mild brush with relegation they’ll be prepared to sell on their title winners and reinvest in lesser paid players.
