Liverpool face battle to hold on to Countinho

|

Despite recently signing a new long term deal Liverpool face a battle to hold on to Philippe Coutinho.

According to a report in the Daily Mail, Barcelona are looking to make a summer statement by signing the Liverpool man or Paris St Germain midfielder Marco Verratti.

Countinho has long been linked with a move to Barcelona but that seemed to die down in January when he signed a new five year contract.

Now it appears that the contract could have been used to protect Liverpool’s potential transfer fee for the Brazilian that they spent £8m signing from Inter Milan in 2013.

With Messi, Suarez and Neymar all in place Barcelona are looking for fresh options in midfield with Countinho high on their list of targets.

Liverpool would be devastated to lose the 24-year-old but if a bid comes in around the £60m mark and the player indicates that he is interested it would be difficult to say no to Barca.
