Jurgen Klopp has been linked with a move for Mario Gotze.

According to a report in the Liverpool Echo the Borussia Dortmund midfielder could be in line for a reunion with his former Westfalen manager.

Gotze returned to Dortmund at the start of the season on a £20m deal after failing to hit the heights during three seasons with Bayern Munich.

The 24-year-old is currently out of action with a metabolic disorder but it’s believed that Klopp would be interested in a reunion as long as it’s on Liverpool’s terms.

That would involve a substantial pay cut and possibly a pay as you play deal if they can agree a transfer fee with Dortmund.

Although Dortmund made a £15m profit on buying the midfielder back from Bayern Gotze is one of the highest earners at the club.

It could be that a loan deal with Liverpool would be the best solution but that would require complex negotiations for all parties.
