According to a report in The Sun the Premier League leaders are very serious about retaining the midfielder.
Chelsea are well aware that Real Madrid will pay £100m for Hazard but would rather hold on to the Belgian than see him turn out for a rival Champions League side.
Real have had a long standing interest in Hazard and see the 26-year-old as the player to lead their club when Cristiano Ronaldo eventually moves on.
Despite six seasons at Stamford Bridge Hazard has never dismissed the idea of joining Real who are used to being patient to ensure that they finally get their targets signed up.
Whatever option he takes up Hazard can be certain of a significant pay rise on his current £200,000/week deal as two of the biggest spenders in the game battle for his service.
