Bournemouth will rival West Ham for the signing of Jermain Defoe.

According to a report in The Sun the south coast outfit are preparing a massive offer for the Sunderland and England striker.

It’s believed that Defoe’s contract includes a release clause if Sunderland are relegated with David Moyes side rooted to bottom place with ten matches left to play.

West Ham had a £6m bid rejected in January with Moyes determined to give his side a fighting chance of avoiding the drop into The Championship.

That chance looks to have gone with no shortage of offers for Defoe despite his age with Bournemouth keen to bring the striker back to a club he spent time on loan at before making the breakthrough at West Ham.

As he showed for England against Lithuania the former Spurs striker knows his way to goal with Bournemouth pulling out all the stops to capture him- again.
