Barcelona target Bellerin

|

Arsenal have opened talks with Barcelona over the transfer of Hector Bellerin.

According to a report in the Daily Mail the meeting was front page news in the Catalan press with a fee of £35m discussed.

Bellerin has been one of the big successes of Arsenal’s season with speculation about a move appearing to end last November when the defender signed what was described as a long term deal.

That contract now appears to have been an insurance policy to ensure that Arsenal get the highest possible fee.

Arsenal signed the defender as a 16-year-old from the Barca academy in a Cesc Fabregas type move.

Like the midfielder there has been regular speculation that Bellerin will return to the Camp Nou with today’s revelations another example of the insecurity at the Emirates with the futures of Arsene Wenger, Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez all unclear.

Apart from a brief spell out through injury Bellerin has been a regular in the Arsenal side all season.
