Everton are preparing a £28m bid for Burnley’s Michael Keane.

According to a report in The Sun Ronald Koeman is preparing a big money move to make the defender a key part of his Everton project.

Keane has been in outstanding form as Burnley defy the odds to sit in mid-table, comfortably retaining their place in the Premier League for the first time.

The 24-year-old started his career at Manchester United but moved to Burnley in 2014 where his career has taken off under Sean Dyche.

Despite their success Burnley will be unable to turn down an offer close to £30m with Dyche already planning ahead to a second season in the top flight.

Chelsea are also interested in Keane but a move to Everton would guarantee first team football and the opportunity to advance his England claims.

Keane has started all 26 of Burnley’s Premier League matches this season and scored twice.
