Diego Costa is poised for an incredible u-turn by signing a new five year contract.
According to a report in The Sun the striker is close to agreeing a basic wage of £220,000 per week which with bonuses could reach £65m over the five years.
During January it seemed certain that Costa would be on his way to China with Chelsea relieved to postpone that until the end of the season after dropping the striker for the home win over Leicester.
Chelsea were furious at the way the approach from Tianjin Quanjin was handled with a £30m/ year salary in the public domain.
Even with their riches Chelsea wouldn’t be able to compete with that but the new offer will make Costa the highest paid player at Stamford Bridge and keeps him in the limelight for the next five years.
With Costa close to a new deal it is unlikely that Chelsea will continue with their interest in Alexis Sanchez.
