Arsenal have offered Arsene Wenger a two year contract to stay on as manager.

The move, revealed in the Sunday Times, is bound to anger many Gunners fans as another Premier League title campaign falls by the wayside.

Arsenal haven’t won the Premier League since 2004 and have only picked up two FA Cup triumphs since switching to The Emirates.

Many fans feel that Wenger’s reign should come to a dignified end rather than see the Frenchman who shaped the modern club leave under a cloud.

Wenger took over from Bruce Rioch in 1996 and is the longest serving manager in England.

While supporters demand to see trophies and increasingly expensive players it seems that the board of directors are happy with top four finishes and guaranteed Champions League football.

Wenger’s current deal expires in the summer with talks towards a new two year deal believed to be at an advanced stage.
