Atletico Madrid want to snatch Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal to replace Manchester United bound Antoine Griezmann.

According to a report in The Sun the Spanish side are planning to use the windfall for Griezmann to bring the Chilean striker back to La Liga- and show a profit.

Sanchez and Arsenal seem to be miles apart in their contract negotiations with the striker’s current deal running out in June 2018.

Arsenal are reluctant to go beyond the £200,000/week barrier while Sanchez is increasingly concerned about the club’s inability to compete for the big prizes.

Atletico have been known as a selling club over the last decade but signing Sanchez would be a statement of intent that they are prepared to join Real and Barca as big hitters in the transfer market.

Arsene Wenger has gone on record that he won’t sell Sanchez to an English club opening up the prospect of a summer deal with Atletico.
