Manchester United have joined Spurs and Chelsea in the race for Milan Badelj.

According to a report on talkSPORT the Fiorentina midfielder is being viewed as a potential replacement for Michael Carrick who is out of contract at the end of the season.

Badelj is out of contract net summer with Fiorentina knowing that they will need to cash in on the midfielder soon or risk seeing the contract being run down.

The 27-year old is in his third season in Florence and has vast experience from spells with Hamburg and Dinamo Zagreb.

Jose Mourinho has identified the defensive midfield role as critical to his plans but is unwilling to offer Carrick a new 12 month contract.

United are expected to spend big in the summer as Mourinho puts his stamp on the club and the squad with the £20m needed to secure Badelj unlikely to make much of a dent on the transfer budget.
