Payet circus continues

|

West Ham are bracing themselves for a two week circus after Marseilles representatives returned to France without completing a deal for Dimitri Payet.

According to a report in The Mirror there was no breakthrough in talks for the midfielder who is rated at £35m by his current club.

West Ham paid Marseilles £9m for Payet 18 months ago but after giving the 29-year-old a bumper pay rise last February the Hammers are in no mood to compromise over a return transfer.

Payet has refused to train or play and warned the club that he would invent an injury if they didn’t give in to his demand to return to Marseilles.

West Ham are keen for Payet to move on but won’t allow the French internationalist or his representatives to dictate terms.

It’s understood that Marseille’s offer was no where near West Ham’s valuation with little point in talks continuing despite the French side making public their visit to London.
