Aston Villa are making a £3m bid for Adlene Guedioura.
According to a report in The Sun Steve Bruce wants to bring the Watford midfielder into his side after failing with bids to snap up Tom Cleverley of Everton and Fulham’s Tom Cairney.
Ironically the arrival of Cleverley at Vicarage Road could spell the end of the line for Guediora with Villa hoping to secure a £3m deal.
After an initial burst of results under Bruce Villa are struggling to make in roads towards the play-off places with Saturday’s defeat from Wolves leaving them 10 points short of sixth place.
Bruce has got money to spend to get Villa back into the top flight but so far he has struggled to advance any January transfers.
A £3m bid for Henri Lansbury is still with Nottingham Forest but Bruce is anxious to bring in players as soon as possible with midfielder Guedioura at the top of the Villa bosses wish list.
