Everton have had a £19m bid for Morgan Schneiderlin rejected by Manchester United.

According to a report in The Telegraph United are insisting on getting back the £24m that they paid Southampton for the midfielder 18 months ago.

West Brom had a £13m bid rejected last month indicating that United won’t be giving away any bargains just because players are surplus to requirements.

Jose Mourinho has indicated that he’d be happy to lose upto a dozen players from his first team squad but they will have to be sold with no loan deals or cut-price transfers.

Everton are likely to come back in with an improved offer for Schneiderlin who worked with Ronald Koeman at Southampton before his switch to Old Trafford.

Like many of Louis van Gaal’s signings the Frenchman now finds himself surplus to requirements but with United looking to get £24m from a transfer it could be the end of the window before Schneiderlin moves on.
