Clement won’t let Llorente leave

Paul Clement has closed the door on Fernando Llorente moving to Chelsea.

Antonio Conte is keen to bring in the former Juventus striker as back up for Diego Costa and seemed close to a deal earlier this week.

A loan swap fell through when Michy Batshuayi decided not to go to the Welsh side with Clement ready to build his survival hopes around Llorente and Gylfi Sigurdsson.

Looking at tomorrow’s match with Arsenal the Daily Mail reported the Swansea boss saying: “You need to keep your best players and Gylfi and Fernando are two of the best players the team has got.

You’d possibly expect interest in them, but they’re signed and contracted here and I want to keep them.”

Conte must now look at other options to find back up for Costa knowing that Batshuayi is keen to get some first team football under his belt.

All of Batshuayi’s 12 Premier League appearances have come from the bench with only league goal coming in the 2-1 win at Watford in August.
