Manchester United have been linked with a move for Stefan De Vrij of Lazio.
The Manchester Evening News has picked up on a report from Italy claiming that a deal in the region of £30m is under discussion.
De Vrij is in his third season with Lazio after coming through the ranks at Feyenoord and has over 25 caps for Holland.
An injury picked up on international duty last season restricted his appearances but he has bounced back to his best form this season.
United are on the look out for a central defender to play alongside summer recruit Eric Bailly.
Jose Mourinho is keen on Virgil van Dijk but may switch his attention to de Vrij if Southampton insist on £40m for their defender.
Arsenal and Chelsea have been linked with de Vrij earlier this season but if a £30m bid came in from Old Trafford Lazio would struggle to turn that offer down.
