Dimitri Payet will be available for a cut price £15m if West Ham get relegated.
According to a report in The Times the French midfielder had that get out clause inserted into the contract he signed towards the end of last year.
Hammers fans will be dismayed to learn about the clause in terms of the value and also that relegation thoughts were included in contract talks despite the club flying high at the time.
Manchester United have been strongly linked with Payet but a £15m fee is bound to interest all top clubs.
Payet joined West Ham in the summer of 2015 and made a big impression with nine Premier League goals in his debut season which earned him a new deal.
After his exploits at Euro 16 there was speculation that the former Marseilles man would be on his way from West Ham but the club managed to convince him to stay put.
Despite scoring just one Premier League goal this season there would be no shortage of offers if Payet is available next summer for £15m.
