Swansea are preparing a bid to bring Tom Carroll back to Wales.

According to a report in The Sun the midfielder has been identified to help the Swans escape from the relegation battle.

Carroll was on loan at Swansea during the 2014/15 season but at the time Spurs refused to consider making it a permanent deal. It’s been reported that Spurs are holding out for £10m but the Welsh side aren’t prepared to meet that fee.

The 24-year-old has slipped further down the pecking order at Spurs with the arrivals of Victor Wanyama and Eric Dier adding to the competition for midfield places.

This season Carroll has only played in one minute of Premier League football, on the opening day of the season against Crystal Palace with his other top team appearances coming in the EFL Cup.

Carroll is now in his seventh season at White Hart Lane but after four loan spells, at Orient, Derby. QPR and Swansea he appears no closer to establishing himself in Mauricio Pochettino’s first team plans.
