Everton have opened talks to bring Morgan Schneiderlin to Goodison Park.

According to a report in The Mirror Ronald Koeman sees the Manchester United misfit as the ideal solution to boost his side’s faltering midfield.

James McCarthy and Ross Barkley have both been linked with moves away from Everton as Koeman seeks to dismantle Roberto Martinez’s squad and impose his own personality on the side.

Manchester United are looking to recoup the £25m that they paid Southampton for the midfielder in the summer of 2015 with Koeman happy to pay that fee to be reunited with the French midfielder.

Schneiderlin made over 200 Premier League appearances for Southampton with Koeman confident that the 27-year-old will be able to step straight into the Everton side despite his lack of game time at Old Trafford.

Everton are also keen on taking Memphis Depay from Old Trafford but may only be able to arrange a loan.
