Arsene Wenger has told Chelsea that they are wasting their time putting in a summer bid for Alexis Sanchez.

This morning a report in the Mirror claimed that Chelsea were preparing to put a bid in for the striker as he enters the final year of his contract.

Sanchez has got 18 months to go on his current deal but Wenger has revealed that he’d rather lose the player for nothing that take a fee from Chelsea.

Reporting on Wenger’s response to selling Sanchez and Mesut Ozil next summer Sky Sports reported: “No matter what happens they will stay for 18 months and hopefully for much longer.”

Over the last week Sanchez has been linked with Manchester City, Chelsea and a £400,000/week offer from China.

It’s believed that the former Barcelona striker is earning around £130,000/week on his current deal and is looking to more than double that to stay on at The Emirates.

Arsenal are unwilling to go above offering £200,000/week and won’t match the top wages being paid at Manchester City and Manchester United.

Ozil is in the same situation with his deal finishing in June 2018.
