Arsenal and Chelsea will rival Spurs for the signing of Ross Barkley if he is put up for sale by Everton.

According to a report in The Sun the England man could be on the move in January if a suitable bid is received.

Barkley is under contract until June 2014 but there seems to be no urgency from Everton to offer a new deal or for the player to commit himself.

After being a favourite under Roberto Martinez the 23-year-old has been in and out the side under Ronald Koeman who has questioned the players drive to fulfil his early potential.

Spurs are expected to put in a bid around the £35m mark but will find their London rivals also looking for midfield additions.

Arsenal have Mesut Ozil and Jack Wilshere out of contract in June 2018 with Arsene Wenger eager to have other options in place if extensions can’t be agreed.
