Inter Milan have made an enquiry about the availability of Lucas Leiva from Liverpool.

According to a report in the Daily Mail talks are underway about a loan deal for the 28-year-old who is out of contract at the end of the season.

Lucas’ days have been numbered since the arrival of Jugen Klopp with Liverpool believed to be only looking for a token fee for the Brazilian.

Inter have made enquires for the midfielder in the past but with his contract soon due to expire are hoping to finally get their man to the San Siro. It’s likely that a short term deal will be agreed with Liverpool leaving the door option for both parties to come to a longer arrangement in the summer.

Klopp is open to the move and happy to free up space in the squad and on the payroll for his own arrivals.

Lucas joined Liverpool in 2007 but has only made 11 appearances this term with no talks over a new contract.
