Winston Reid was signed in 2010, and since that point he has been the focal point of West Ham’s defence.

Often an understated member of the West Ham first team, managers past and present have always been able to rely upon the defensive stalwart – given his consistent weekly performances.

He doesn’t have the ball skills or the technical side of his game that some defenders do – but he doesn’t need those.

He keeps to simple and accurate gameplay – and that is all you need from a central defender.
