Don’t get us wrong; we still believe Matt Targett’s long-term career is still at St. Mary’s Stadium but following his spell out with injury, a loan move could be just the tonic for the 21-year-old.
Still yet to complete any loan move in his career, Targett is usually the back-up to Ryan Bertrand but considering how well Sam McQueen did as stand-in over the past month or so, he’s proved he’s ready when the England international is out.
That could mean that Targett is surplus to requirements barring another major injury crisis at left back so now could be the perfect time for the England Under-21 international to get some more games under his belt ahead of next season.
