Manchester United are hoping to play the Zlatan card to snap up Swedish wonder kid Pavle Vagic.

According to a report in The Mirror United have joined their City rivals in the race to sign the captain of Sweden’s u-17 side.

Vagic has already been listed as a first team substitute for Malmo- the club that sent Zlatan Ibrahimovic on the road to fame and fortune.

The 16-year-old winger has scored five times in 13 appearances for Sweden’s u-16 and u-17 national teams and is already part of Malmo’s first team squad.

City have made big inroads into Academy recruitment and have extensive scouting operations throughout the world with Scandinavia a keenly contested area for young talent.

Senior figures at Old Trafford have been concerned by the decline in young players coming through the ranks and are determined to use the examples of current first team players to bolster their recruitment prospects.
