Idrissa Gueye

Idrissa Gueye only joined Everton a couple of months ago – but he has already proven himself to be one of Europe’s best defensive midfielders.

All the eyes were on N’Golo Kante this season following his arrival at Chelsea, but Gueye has been every bit as good as the Frenchman – and there is an argument to suggest that he has performed even better.

He is the man that makes his team tick, and Everton’s fantastic defensive record is largely down to his incredible defensive work rate.

Much in the vein of Kante, you would not expect Gueye to hang around Everton for very long – he could already make the jump
