While this particular rumour was sparked by the Everton manager himself Ronald Koeman, the fact the papers jumped on it as a story wasn’t going to convince anybody anyway.
Having made no sounds about wanting to give up on Manchester United this winter or anytime so far, Rooney is on incredible wages at Old Trafford and is seemingly not concerned over his poor form.
While an Everton return looks a sensible move on paper, Rooney won’t want to be forced out of Old Trafford before turning his own underwhelming performances around.
