While the opening of the January transfer window is still two months away, Everton are close to agreeing a deal to sign 18-year-old Odd striker Rafik Zekhnini, report talkSPORT.

According to Norwegian newspaper Varden, the Toffees are capitalising on their interest in the forward by moving to sign him early.

A Norwegian Under-21 international, Zekhnini has already made 33 league appearances for Odd’s first team despite still being a teenager and has struck seven goals to boot.

According to the report, Zekhnini is now on his way to Merseyside for talks that will pave the way for the young Norwegian to continue his footballing education in England.

While Ronald Koeman’s Toffees were extremely active in the summer transfer window bringing in the likes of Ashley Williams and Yannick Bolasie, the club did bring in three youngsters under the radar.

With the Goodison Park club identifying youth in the case of Zekhnini here, Everton also brought in young trio Chris Renshaw, Joe Hilton and Nathan Baxter in the summer.
