Leeds United’s January swoop threatened by new bidder

|

Linked with both Leeds United and Stoke City recently, Anderlecht have joined the race to sign IFK Norrkoping defender Linus Wahlqvist in January, report Sport Witness.

According to Belgian source Voetbal Nieuws, the Pro League giants will move to bolster their defensive ranks with Wahlqvist’s signature in the New Year now that the Swedish league season has finished.

With Leeds United already preparing a bid for the Swedish international in January, it now remains to be seen where the player feels he can develop his career the most with the 20-year-old now keen for a new experience.

Speaking about his immediate future, Wahlqvist claimed: “After three seasons at the club, I feel I’m ready for a new challenge, but I am also happy.”

Garry Monk’s side have reaped the rewards of landing Wahlqvist’s Swedish international team-mate Pontus Jansson who has impressed this term and Whites fans will have hoped he put a good word in on recent international duty.
