Once a regular fixture in Tottenham’s midfield, on-loan star Nanbil Bentaleb has cast doubt over his long-term Spurs future after revealing how content he is at Schalke, report Football Insider.

The Algerian international joined the Bundesliga outfit on a season-long loan back on August 25th and recently claimed he’s “very happy” to be playing his football in Gelsenkirchen.

Speaking to Schalke’s official Twitter account, Bentaleb claimed: “We’re working really hard to achieve our goals. I am very happy to be here at Schalke.”

Having made 46 appearances for Spurs since making his debut against Southampton in December 2013, the 21-year-old only featured 11 times under Mauricio Pochettino last term.

With Tottenham boasting a wealth of talent in central midfield this term with Eric Dier, Dele Alli, Mousa Dembele, Victor Wanyama and Moussa Sissoko to call upon, perhaps Bentaleb knows this is the start of the end.

A massive club in Germany of course, Bentaleb has started five of Schalke’s six Bundesliga fixtures under Markus Weinzierl this term and is clearly an integral part of the club’s plans this season.
