Having initially not been convinced by his signing, former Tottenham midfielder Jermaine Jenas has admitted he’s got it wrong over the impressive form of Victor Wanyama, report The Sport Review.

An £11 million summer arrival from Southampton, the Kenya international has been able to hold down a regular first team berth for Mauricio Pochettino’s side in central midfield despite heavy competition.

Despite not starting Spurs’ Champions League fixture against Monaco, Wanyama has started all seven of Tottenham’s Premier League fixtures so far and is part of the reason why the North London club have started the campaign so well according to Jenas.

“In his first couple of games for Spurs, I was not convinced by him. I thought he was decent back-up for the existing central midfielders, Eric Dier and Mousa Dembele, nothing more.

“Against City, he was immense, and not just for his tackling or the amount of ground he covered.”

A veteran of 155 Premier League appearances for Tottenham of course, Jermaine Jenas is well versed in what it takes to succeed in Spurs’ midfield.

Given the over-inflated fees in the modern-day game, it would appear that Tottenham have got themselves a snip following the transfer of Wanyama for just £11 million according to Jenas.

“He was also composed on the ball in the areas where Spurs needed it, and disciplined too. It was the performance Tottenham fans have been waiting for,” continued the former England international.
