His first Southampton goal was an absolute stunner in the EFL Cup this week and now, James Ward-Prowse has claimed there is plenty more to come from Sofiane Boufal, report HITC.

The Saints’ record signing at £21 million, Boufal missed the start of the season through injury but started his first Southampton game against Sunderland on Wednesday after two cameos against Inter Milan and Manchester City.

Speaking to the Daily Echo recently, Boufal’s team-mate Ward-Prowse claimed: “There’s definitely more to come from him. We have to make sure we help him along the way and help him settle in.

“But you can see the quality that he’s got. I’m sure he’ll only get better from here.”

Boufal earned a massive reputation for being a goalscoring midfielder in his one-and-a-half season spell at Lille, scoring 14 goals in 43 Ligue 1 appearances.

Having now notched the first of his Southampton career, the Moroccan international will now be earmarking a regular slot in Claude Puel’s first team.

With Puel having depended on the likes of Dusan Tadic and Steven Davis in attacking midfield so far this term, the early impact shown by Boufal presents him a positive selection headache ahead of welcoming Chelsea to the south coast on Sunday.
