Manchester United plotting ambitious transfer reunion?

Still on the lookout for the perfect foil for Paul Pogba, Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is reportedly keen on a transfer reunion with Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic, report The Mirror.

Citing the TransferMarketWeb source, they claim Juventus have also earmarked the Serbian international but Manchester United are also monitoring his situation.

Currently overstocked in central midfield, the report claims that the outcast Bastian Schweinsteiger and fringe player Morgan Schneiderlin will be moved on to create room for Matic’s potential signature.

While Matic flourished under the guidance of Jose Mourinho in 2015 whereby Chelsea won the Premier League title with ease, selling to a direct rival appears an incredibly ambitious move on United’s part.

While Chelsea controversially sold Juan Mata to Manchester United in 2014, top sides are increasingly reluctant to assist their direct opponents nowadays.

What’s more, Nemanja Matic has started all seven of Chelsea’s Premier League fixtures so far this season under Antonio Conte and is clearly an integral part of the Italian’s plans.

Part of the reason why Cesc Fabregas just can’t get regular game time right now, surely it would take a crazy bid from Manchester United to even get Chelsea squirming over releasing Matic.
