Man United looking to sign up under pressure star?

|

In the lead up to the January transfer window, Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is reportedly keen on raiding former club FC Porto to sign Hector Herrera, report Metro.

According to Portuguese sources A Bola and Record, the Red Devils are keen on providing the 46-cap Mexican international a step up in his career.

News of Manchester United’s interest comes at a difficult time for the player who has recently been stripped of the captaincy at Estadio do Dragao due to a drop in form with Benfica now at the Primeira Liga summit.

Having last won the Portuguese top flight back in 2012/13, there is big pressure on FC Porto to deliver a title this time around but Mourinho and United could provide the former Pachuca man a different challenge altogether.

Still looking for the perfect balance in midfield following the summer signature of Paul Pogba of course, Metro’s report suggests Herrera could be the perfect replacement for 35-year-old Michael Carrick.

Recently uploading an Instagram post depicting coaching manuals alongside the caption ‘homework done’, it would appear that the long-serving Red Devils star is ready to embrace the next stage of his footballing career.
