He’s only 16-years-old and awaits his Manchester United first team debut but European giants Barcelona are interested in signing Red Devils youth product Angel Gomes, report the Daily Mail.

The teen – of Portuguese heritage – captains England’s Under-17 international side and has landed on the Catalans’ radar despite only being in his first year as a Manchester United scholar.

An attacking midfielder by trade, Angel Gomes’ current contract runs out in 2018 at Old Trafford but Luis Enrique’s Barcelona will be hoping their status as arguably the best side in club football can tempt him to La Masia.

While the outstanding Marcus Rashford has been receiving a chance under Jose Mourinho so far this season, the Portuguese boss has tended not to incorporate younger players so readily in his career.

Perhaps this is a factor Gomes might have to weigh up in his own mind but for now, the teenager is still making his name and is a favourite of Red Devils academy boss Nicky Butt according to the report.
