Liverpool facing battle for £36m Kondogbia alternative

|

Linked intensely with a move for Geoffrey Kondogbia recently, Liverpool are now facing competition to sign midfield alternative Ruben Neves, report HITC.

According to Italian source CalcioMercatoWeb, Serie A giants Juventus have joined the Reds in the race to sign the £36 million rated FC Porto star.

Scouted by the Reds back in 2015, Neves became the youngest player to start as captain in the Champions League, aged just 18-years-old in October last year.

Having made over 60 first team appearances for the Portuguese giants despite his slender years, CalcioMercatoWeb’s report claims his agent Jorge Mendes is trying to secure his future over a bidding war next summer.

With Kondogbia having been lined up as a possible January recruit, it remains to be seen whether Liverpool will tempt FC Porto with an offer for Neves at the turn of the year.

With Chelsea also keen on signing the 19-year-old who has earned two senior international caps with Portugal, his signature will prove anything but easy judging by the competition right now.
