Chelsea will need to pay £30 million to land Lazio’s Stefan De Vrij in January with the Italian club lining up a new deal to boost his release clause, report talkSPORT.

According to Italian source Il Messaggero, the Stadio Olimpco-based side are ready to offer De Vrij fresh terms to keep him in Rome until 2021.

Having previously been linked to the Blues before the Stamford Bridge outfit opted to re-sign David Luiz on Deadline Day, Antonio Conte is still reportedly keen on recruiting the Dutch international.

Enduring an injury-hit spell at Lazio since signing from Feyenoord in 2014, De Vrij has managed to keep himself fit this term while appearing in all seven of the club’s Serie A fixtures so far this campaign.

The new deal for De Vrij would interestingly boost his release clause to a figure totalling £30 million and with the Blues having shelled out that amount to re-sign David Luiz, it remains to be seen whether this fee will put them off the Lazio defender.
