Laurent Koscielny

Just how good has Laurent Koscielny been this season?

For many people, it’s out of him and Tottenham’s Toby Alderweireld for the best centre back in the Premier League right now.

Controversially missing the Gunners’ opening game of the season against Liverpool through extended leave following Euro 2016, Koscielny has been colossal as stand-in Arsenal captain since and it’s his organising of the defence that sets him apart.

You’ll often hear Gooners claim that their defence isn’t half as good without Koscielny’s leadership abilities and a huge positive is the fact he’s striking up a nice combination with new boy Shkodran Mustafi.

Although the likes of Rob Holding or Gabriel Paulista could step in when he’s injured, nobody boasts the combative ability and recovery pace that the French international possesses in his locker.
