He only scored two EFL Cup goalsĀ so far this season and after underwhelming in a Liverpool shirt, former Red Danny Murphy thinks Daniel Sturridge will be sold next summer, report IBTimes.

A starter in Monday evening’s dull 0-0 draw with Manchester United, Sturridge continued to look subdued in a withdrawn role following an ordinary international break with England despite scoring against Malta.

Recently speaking to BBC Five Live, Murphy claimed: “I can’t see him being first choice when everybody’s fit.

“He doesn’t seem the like the type of lad to sit around on the bench. I’d be surprised if next season he was still a Liverpool player.”

Despite being injured for large parts of his Reds career, Sturridge actually boasts an impressive goals to games ratio at 43 strikes in 76 Premier League appearances.

Nevertheless, the England international just hasn’t played with the same conviction so far this term with Roberto Firmino selected as Jurgen Klopp’s ideal centre forward so far.

Earlier this month, odds from SkyBet suggested Arsenal were the favourites to sign Sturridge, as reported by the Daily Star.
