Like Per Mertesacker, Santi Cazorla is also 31-years-old and you’d imagine that Arsene Wenger might have designs on bringing a younger captain through but if not, Santi Cazorla is both loyal and experienced.
As we all know, Wenger doesn’t usually keep on too many pros in their thirties but in Cazorla, he’s an exceptional talent who the Arsenal fans love so you can imagine that he’d make an exception.
Having stood in as Arsenal captain before, Cazorla knows the role and is far better suited to it nowadays given the deeper way in which he plays with all his team-mates around him in midfield.
A sensible choice but probably not the final answer for Arsenal going forward.
