Lazar Markovic
Another player signed during the now less than fondly remembered off-season ahead of 2014/15, Markovic looked, initially, like a wise purchase.
The silky Serbian was a real star in his only season at Benfica, helping the Lisbon side to win the Primeira Liga after signing for them from Partizan Belgrade, with whom he also lifted the league trophy.
Markovic did impress to an extent in his debut campaign at Anfield, with his performance away at Sunderland notable, but he often appeared lightweight and seemed to lack confidence in his own ability in the final third.
Brendan Rodgers shipped him out to Fenerbahce for the 2015/16 season, but even though he’s returned under Klopp’s reign, reports have already suggested he’s not needed. A move, perhaps on loan again, makes sense for all involved.
