Jose Mourinho

According to separate reports from The Daily Star, Manchester United will hand Jose Mourinho a £300m transfer budget this summer; whilst Everton have drawn up a shortlist of potential replacements for underfire manager Roberto Martinez

Manchester United will announce Jose Mourinho as their next manager within the next fortnight because the details of his Old Trafford contract have been leaked in Portugal. The Red Devils hierarchy were hoping to make The Special One’s appointment official at the end of the season.

And they’re planning to kick off the Mourinho era at United by granting him a £300million transfer budget for the summer – which if spent entirely would constitute a world-record spend for a club in a single transfer window. The current record is held by Real Madrid, who splashed out a whopping £195million in 2009.

Meanwhile, The Daily Star also claim Everton manager Roberto Martinez is a ‘dead man walking’ following the Toffees’ 2-1 defeat to Manchester United in Saturday’s FA Cup semi-final, with the Goodison outfit already drawing up a list of potential replacements.

That includes Premier League title-winning Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini, Southampton gaffer Ronald Koeman and four-time Eredivisie winner Frank de Boer of Ajax, whilst former Marseille and Athletic Bilbao manager Marcelo Bielsa is claimed to be interested in the Goodison gig.

Former boss David Moyes, however, isn’t in contention – having been available since Real Sociedad sacked him in November 2015.
